TSRL CEO Dr. Elke Lipka Honored Among Michigan’s Most Inspiring Leaders and Corp! Magazine MVPs

TSRL, Inc. President and CEO Dr. Elke Lipka recently joined fellow business and community leaders to accept two honors recognizing her leadership and impact across Michigan. Dr. Lipka was named among Michigan’s Most Inspiring Leaders and received a Corp! Magazine MVP Award, adding to a growing list of recognition for the leadership team at TSRL and contributions to Michigan’s life sciences community.

For Lipka, the recognition comes during an especially meaningful year. TSRL is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026, a milestone few independent preclinical CROs achieve. Her own history with the company goes back more than three decades. Lipka first worked at TSRL in 1994 before building her career at organizations including Parke-Davis, Pfizer, and Esperion Therapeutics. She returned to TSRL in 2007 and ultimately became the company’s majority owner and CEO in 2019.
“It is incredibly meaningful to be recognized alongside so many people doing important work across Michigan,” said Dr. Lipka. “I also see this as recognition of the people at TSRL. Our team has built something special by staying focused on strong science, integrity, and doing work that can make a real difference.”
Building Scientific Impact in Michigan
Under Lipka’s leadership, TSRL has established a significant track record of securing competitive government funding to advance therapeutic innovation. Over the past five years, TSRL has been the largest for-profit NIH grant awardee in Michigan and has secured nearly $20 million in non-dilutive funding.
That work has helped TSRL advance promising therapeutic programs while maintaining an experienced team of pharmaceutical scientists in Michigan.
In 2026, TSRL also received continued NIH support for its work developing a weekly microneedle patch to deliver Trospium Chloride for overactive bladder. The second-year Notice of Award provides nearly $1.1 million to continue advancing the program.

Lipka has also helped expand TSRL’s role as a preclinical development partner to biotech companies, pharmaceutical organizations, academic researchers, and emerging innovators. The company supports programs through bioanalysis, formulation development, PK/ADME and toxicology, drug delivery technologies, and strategic consulting.
Creating Opportunities for Others
Lipka’s impact also extends to the culture she has built at TSRL. Women comprise approximately 60 percent of TSRL’s workforce, and the company’s leadership demonstrates what is possible when experienced female scientists have opportunities to lead.
Her leadership philosophy is grounded in giving talented people a voice, keeping ego out of scientific decision making, and creating an environment where people are trusted to use their expertise.
“I have learned that you can accomplish an incredible amount when you choose the right people, trust their expertise, and give them an opportunity to contribute,” said Lipka. “Leadership should create opportunities for other people to succeed, too.”
For Lipka, the milestone and the recognition share a common thread.
“Integrity has always been at the center of TSRL,” she said. “Forty years in this business teaches you that opportunities and technologies will change, but how you treat people and how you approach the science have lasting value.”
