Gordon Amidon, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board

Dr. Gordon Amidon is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of solubility, transport phenomena, prodrugs, and drug absorption.  He has been actively involved with the development of the Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS) with the FDA (BCS serves as a basis for international drug regulation).  Gordon received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Michigan. He has held the following positions; faculty at the University of Wisconsin, Director of Pharmaceutical Research at Merck / INTERx, in Lawrence, Kansas and was appointed Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Michigan in 1983.  Gordon co-founded the Drug Delivery Foundation. His research is extensive, Gordon has over 300 published papers and has contributed chapters to more than 30 books and monographs.

Elke Lipka

Elke Lipka, Ph.D., M.B.A., President

Dr. Elke Lipka joined TSRL in June of 2007 to develop and implement a sustainable competitive commercialization strategy for TSRL’s technology portfolio.  She received her B.S. in Pharmacy and Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Johann-Wolfgang-von-Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, and her M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Elke started her career as a Research Scientist at TSRL in 1992 and subsequently has held a number of scientific and management positions of increasing responsibility at Parke-Davis, Pfizer, and Esperion Therapeutics. She is an experienced professional capable of building and managing multidisciplinary teams involved in the discovery and development of pharmaceutical drug candidates and drug delivery systems. Her expertise includes pharmacokinetic, drug metabolism and drug safety scientific guidance to small molecule and biologic drug development programs. Elke brings strong skills in project management, establishment of strategic partnerships, and management of financial and operational business aspects to TSRL.

Dawn Reyna

Dawn Reyna, Sr. Director of Laboratory Services

Ms. Dawn Reyna joined TSRL, Inc. in 2007 as Quality Assurance Unit Manager and was named Senior Director of Laboratory Services in 2014. Prior to her joining TSRL Inc., Dawn held management positions within quality assurance at Pfizer, a global drug development firm, and MPI Research, an early clinical-stage contract research organization. Dawn brings over 18 years of research and quality assurance expertise to TSRL, Inc., having managed GLP-compliant quality systems in fast, results-driven environments. Dawn is a registered Quality Assurance Professional in Good Laboratory Practices and received her B.S. in Biology from Western Michigan University.

Dawn’s leadership skills and experience are evident by her ability to deliver high-quality results that meet internal and collaborator objectives.

Eric Simon

Eric Simon, Ph.D., Sr. Research/Project Scientist

Dr. Eric Simon joined TSRL, Inc. in 2014 as an Associate Research/Project Scientist and was promoted to Research/Project Scientist the same year. Eric previously held leadership positions in product and technology development at Nextgen Sciences, Inc., a life science CRO in Ann Arbor. Prior to his industrial experience, Eric worked at the University of Michigan in a senior research position with teaching responsibilities in proteomics and chemistry. His research focused on the development of chemical reagent technology for life science applications. Eric brings over 15 years of experience in analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, assay development and proteomics to TSRL. He received his B.S. in Chemistry and Environmental Science from Central Michigan University and his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Michigan State University.

Cheryl Harteg

Cheryl (Cheri) Harteg, Associate Research/Project Scientist

Ms. Cheryl Harteg joined TSRL, Inc in 2008 as an Associate Research Scientist and was named Safety Officer for the company in 2011. Prior to her joining TSRL, Inc., Cheryl held analytical technologist positions, in Dowpharma and Analytical Sciences, at The Dow Chemical Company. She brings over 17 years of quality control and analytical chemistry experience to TSRL, Inc, responsible for study design, implementation and data analysis. She received her B.S. in Biology and Psychology from Saginaw Valley State University.

Drew Hertig, MBA

Drew Hertig, M.B.A., C.L.P., Marketing & Business Development Consultant

Mr. Drew Hertig is owner of Drew Hertig Consulting, a biotechnology and pharmaceutical consulting practice based out of San Diego, CA. Drew had recently worked as Business Development & Marketing Manager for TSRL, Inc. Prior to joining TSRL, he worked as Marketing Manager for Everist Health, a cardiovascular medical device company based in Ann Arbor, MI. Previously, Drew was a Business Development Analyst, New Ventures, for the Office of Technology Development at Boston University. He started his career as a metabolic engineering Research Associate for Metabolix, Inc., a MIT-spin out company based in Cambridge, MA. Drew's multi-disciplinary approach to innovation combines marketing and communication skills with direct industry R&D experience. Drew earned his Master of Business Administration in the Health Sector Program at Boston University, graduating with Honors. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Penn State University and is a Certified Licensing Professional.
