Gordon Amidon, Ph.D., Chairman of the Board

Dr. Gordon Amidon is an internationally recognized expert in the fields of solubility, transport phenomena, prodrugs, and drug absorption.  He has been actively involved with the development of the Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS) with the FDA (BCS serves as a basis for international drug regulation).  Gordon received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Michigan. He has held the following positions; faculty at the University of Wisconsin, Director of Pharmaceutical Research at Merck / INTERx, in Lawrence, Kansas and was appointed Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Michigan in 1983.  Gordon co-founded the Drug Delivery Foundation. His research is extensive, Gordon has over 300 published papers and has contributed chapters to more than 30 books and monographs.

 
Elke Lipka

Elke Lipka, Ph.D., M.B.A., President

Dr. Elke Lipka joined TSRL in June of 2007 to develop and implement a sustainable competitive commercialization strategy for TSRL’s technology portfolio.  She received her B.S. in Pharmacy and Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Johann-Wolfgang-von-Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, and her M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.

Elke started her career as a Research Scientist at TSRL in 1992 and subsequently has held a number of scientific and management positions of increasing responsibility at Parke-Davis, Pfizer, and Esperion Therapeutics. She is an experienced professional capable of building and managing multidisciplinary teams involved in the discovery and development of pharmaceutical drug candidates and drug delivery systems. Her expertise includes pharmacokinetic, drug metabolism and drug safety scientific guidance to small molecule and biologic drug development programs. Elke brings strong skills in project management, establishment of strategic partnerships, and management of financial and operational business aspects to TSRL.

 
Dawn Reyna

Dawn Reyna, Sr. Director of Laboratory Services

Ms. Dawn Reyna joined TSRL, Inc. in 2007 as Quality Assurance Unit Manager and was named Senior Director of Laboratory Services in 2014. Prior to her joining TSRL Inc., Dawn held management positions within quality assurance at Pfizer, a global drug development firm, and MPI Research, an early clinical-stage contract research organization. Dawn brings over 18 years of research and quality assurance expertise to TSRL, Inc., having managed GLP-compliant quality systems in fast, results-driven environments. Dawn is a registered Quality Assurance Professional in Good Laboratory Practices and received her B.S. in Biology from Western Michigan University.

Dawn’s leadership skills and experience are evident by her ability to deliver high-quality results that meet internal and collaborator objectives.

Matt Doherty, Ph.D., Research/Project Scientist

Dr. Matt Doherty joined TSRL in March of 2018 as a Project/Research Scientist. His research interests span host-microbe interactions related to human and animal health. Matt earned his B.S. in Biological Science from the University of Notre Dame and his Ph.D. in Microbiology from University of California, Davis. Prior to joining TSRL, Matt worked on antimicrobial drug development for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). As a Postdoctoral fellow in the University of Michigan Medical School, Matt studied whether the gut microbiota can be used as a predictive biomarker for response to treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and the effect of diet on the microbiome. In addition to his broad background in microbiology and immunology, Matt brings his experience in bioinformatics, cell culture, and molecular biology to TSRL.

 
Cheryl Harteg

Cheryl (Cheri) Harteg, Research/Project Scientist

Ms. Cheryl Harteg joined TSRL, Inc in 2008 as an Associate Research Scientist and was named Safety Officer for the company in 2011. She was promoted to Research Scientist in 2018. Prior to her joining TSRL, Inc., Cheryl held analytical technologist positions, in Dowpharma and Analytical Sciences, at The Dow Chemical Company. She brings over 17 years of quality control and analytical chemistry experience to TSRL, Inc, responsible for study design, implementation and data analysis. She received her B.S. in Biology and Psychology from Saginaw Valley State University.

Aaron Chadderdon, M.S., Associate Research/Project Scientist

Mr. Aaron Chadderdon joined TSRL, Inc. as an Associate Research Scientist in 2017.  Prior to joining TSRL, Inc., Aaron held positions as a research specialist and laboratory manager in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan Medical School.  While at the University of Michigan, he studied G protein coupled receptors with a focus on the opioid receptor family and how their activity and signaling relate to pain management, addiction, and depression.  Aaron has acquired a wide range of technical skills, from advanced animal handling and cell culture to analytical technique, making him a versatile member of our team.  In addition to study design, implementation, and data analysis, he is also responsible for managing the daily operations of the in vivo facilities at TSRL, Inc.  Aaron received his B.S. in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Science and his M.S. in Pharmacology from the University of Michigan.

Penny Weller, BHA, Office/Facilities Manager

Ms. Penny Weller joined TSRL, Inc. as the Executive Assistant in October 2017. She was promoted to Office/Facilities Manager in April 2018. She comes from the University of Michigan with over 20 years of experience as an Executive Assistant. In addition to Office/Facilities Manager, she performs as the Purchasing and Receiving Coordinator, manages HR and Benefits, assists the Team as the Grant Specialist, and Archivist. Penny received her Bachelors in Healthcare Administration from Eastern Michigan University in 2010.
